Project China is a joint student project between the Royal Institute of Technology and the Student Association at the Stockholm School of Economics. The aim of the project is to increase the relations between Sweden and China and to find platforms for students in Sweden to study and work in a growing Chinese market and for Chinese students to get a unique opportunity to get an employment at a Swedish company.

The project group will arrange several interesting events during the year in order for you as a student to familiarize yourself with a very different culture and to learn more about our company partners that operates in China.

So what will happen during 2010?

In Shanghai, China’s largest city, the World Expo will be arranged between May and October. Over 190 countries and 50 international organizations will be represented at what is expected to be the most visited World Expo ever.

In the beginning of the summer Project China arranges fairs, “Sweden Day”, at different universities in China to promote Swedish companies among the Chinese students, as well was giving them a taste of Swedish cultures. In Sweden, fairs and lectures are arranged throughout the year at the Royal Institute of Technology and at the Stockholm School of Economics, to present Swedish companies that operate in China to the students. Several events will be arranged to give the students in Sweden a broader view of Chinese culture, such as movie nights, cooking lessons and a Chinese styled pub.

At the end of the project a report book will be released where you get a chance to learn more about China through the theme chosen by the project group. This year the theme will be “Communication between urban and rural China” with the cornerstones “innovation, sustainability and communication”.

The Chinese write their words with characters, but to make it easier for us “westerners” to learn their language, the words can be transcribed with “pinyin” in to the latin alphabet.
