A new week has at last begun here in Sweden; it is Monday as you can tell. Last week I wrote about the changes of the weather and how it is affecting us. And I’ve been thinking, because I might have found a greater source of affection among us in this investigation of the Swedish soul. Or whatever you might call what I do! When it struck me I was like ‘Ah, Elina, why didn’t you think of this obvious obsession we have?’

It is Fredagsmys, dear readers, spelled with a capital letter, translated directly to Coziness on Friday.  Well, here it goes. All we ever do in this country are dreaming of the next Friday. I’m not going to tell you everybody loves a Friday, but I can sure inform you most do. We wake up on Monday, calculate our upcoming work week, how we’ll manage the difficulties and survive smoothest. We put on happy faces, even though we wake up in complete darkness and return home with electric lights as guidance.  And then suddenly comes the Thursday, when we think we’ll soon collapse. We debate with our inner beings on how we will manage one more day. How will we cope???!!! We are crazily tired, howling inside of resignation, on the verge of disaster!

And then, the curtains are pulled aside, and it is Friday. At last. And then of course, it all starts again.

Anyhow, what I wanted to show to you all is a commercial made by a Swedish crisps manufacturer. This video completely describes the feeling of joy, excitement and relief most people feel on our beloved Swedish not-approved public holiday, Friday.

Translated the lyrics goes:

So, readers, take this, as we say in Sweden, with a pinch of salt. We like to work and we usually wear classier clothing than soft pants with a hoodie. But, we love to make fun of ourselves. And yes, we do love Fredagsmys!
